ABOUT

Slighte

I am an artist/designer originally from Toronto, Ontario. I graduated from the
Ontario College of Art (OCAD University) and pursued a career in Interior Design. I
later moved to the Northwest Territories where I raised her three children and
worked as a designer and artist.

Travelling extensively through northern Canada I am deeply moved by this beautiful environment. In 2015 I won 2nd place in the People’s Choice Awards in the Salt Spring Island National Art Prize for a print called “Changes” which was inspired by the pristine beauty of winter in the Canadian North as it changes into spring.

I have recently been involved in several public art projects, collaborative projects,
acrylic paining and primarily printmaking. I am currently a member of Thin Ice
Print Studio in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and Society of Northern
Printmakers in Edmonton, Alberta.

I discovered monotype printmaking in a workshop at Metchosin International
Summer School of the Arts several years ago. A few workshops later and the
discovery of an available press in Yellowknife and I was hooked. Printmaking has become my passion and I continue to learn and explore.
